Frequently asked questions
Yes, in the vast majority of cases. Motorizing a manual shutter is possible as long as the slat is in good condition and compatible with a motorized axle. We perform a diagnosis before any intervention to verify feasibility and to offer you the most suitable solution (Somfy, Bubendorff, solar or wired).
PVC offers an excellent quality/price ratio and good insulation.
Aluminum, more rigid, is recommended for large spans, durability and enhanced thermal comfort.
Both options are possible in renovation or construction.
Regular cleaning of the fabric (clear water + mild soap), l’maintenance of the arms and an annual verification of the motorization are enough to extend the lifespan. Avoid leaving the fabric wet rolled up too long.
On average 10 to 15 years depending on l’usage, the brand, l’exposition to wind and l’maintenance. Somfy motorizations offer a particularly reliable durability.
No, not systematically : vertical blind with blackout fabric + slats = very good occlusion. The vertical blind filters the light, limits l’glare and improves thermal comfort. For a near‑total occlusion, d’other solutions such as roller shutters are more suitable.
Yes, but the fixings must be adapted. We offer specific technical solutions to ensure stability and preserve the external insulation.
Yes, within certain limits. Great heights are possible with reinforced mosquito nets, with balanced spring or integrated brake. A diagnosis is recommended
In the majority of cases, it’s an issue of winding, a misaligned slat or a motor at the end of its life. It is advisable to stop using it and request a diagnosis to avoid a more costly breakdown.
On average, a first visit for diagnosis is carried out within 3 weeks, depending on the season. We always do our best to intervene quickly, especially on blocking failures.
It all depends on the condition of the slat, the box and the motor. Many old shutters can be restored. When repair is no longer durable or economically relevant, we transparently advise you on a partial or complete replacement.
